Frequently Asked Questions...

About Concrete Curb Edging

Do you set forms to install concrete curb edging?
No.  Lizer uses a special edging machine that extrudes a continuous concrete border.  This "formless" system allows us to follow the existing grade without be hampered by rigid forms.

How much time does the installation take?
It all depends upon the type of stamp used and the total linear footage, but most installations can be completed in a single day.

Do you used reinforcement bars in your curbing?
No.  However, we use a reinforced fiberglass concrete which is as strong as traditional reinforcement bars but is not subject to the corrosive effects of metal.

Will the concrete colorant fade?
It shouldn't.  We only use integral colors in our mixtures and apply a sealer to reduce the chances of fading.  As part of an annual maintenance practice, we  recommend an annual application or sealant which can be installed by you or our professional maintenance crew.

Will your concrete curbing crack and break-up?
All concrete will crack, especially in the weather conditions associated with Northeast Wisconsin.  To control cracking, we install control joints 12-18 inches on center.  This "teaches" the concrete where to crack so that it will not look unsightly.  The fiberglass reinforcement will limit concrete separation.

How will installing concrete curb edging affect my existing landscape?
We will remove any existing edging from your landscape beds.  then we will carefully remove 9" of sod from in front of the landscape bed  and prepare the ground for the new edging.

What if I have an irrigation system?

More than likely, you will have to move any sprinkler heads that are adjacent to the curb edging.  Because we  also have a certified irrigation company, our crews will relocate any irrigation heads that may be in the way.

Will I be able to mow up against my edging?

This is actually one of the main benefits of concrete curb edging.  Because your curb edging is made from concrete, it will be strong enough to resist the weight of even a riding lawn mower and even if a mower blade hits the curb edge, it will at most cause only surface scratches.
