Where other companies "Sprinkle"...  We IRRIGATE!

What is an Irrigation System?

Simply put, an Irrigation System is a network of pipes designed to deliver water to areas where water is not present in the necessary amounts.  A little more defined, an Irrigation System is engineered to efficiently provide water to the plant biomass (lawn, trees, shrubs, and flowers) based on soil texture, solar exposure, wind desiccation, and climatic conditions.  Specific pipe sizes and irrigation heads are selected based on the volume of water, distance required to cover, and specific types of vegetation.

Benefits of an Irrigation System?

A professionally designed and installed Irrigation System will provide many benefits for you.  Among those benefits are the following:

  • Hassle-Free:  Once a Lizer  Irrigation System is installed, you will never have to drag a hose across your yard again!

  • Save Valuable Time:  Once a system is installed, it will run automatically.  You need not schedule your activities around watering the lawn.

  • Conserve Water:  Have you ever set out a sprinkler and forget about it only to find a portion of your yard flooded?  Automatic on, and off... what a concept!

  • Maintaining Your Investment:  Attractive landscapes require maintenance.  An irrigation system protects that investment by assuring health plants.

  • Improved Property Value:  Installing a system is a convenience “upgrade” that will measurably increase your property’s appraised value and curb appeal.

  • Reduced Lawn Maintenance:  Irrigated lawns are less stressed and thus maintain a healthier state.  Healthy lawns resist weeds, diseases and fungus attacks.

What should you look for in a professional?

Not all companies that claim to be Irrigation Specialists are.  Because a person has a truck and new equipment is not a guarantee they are properly trained for your project.  Installing an automatic irrigation system is a complex task!  That’s why it is best to hire a qualified professional. Irrigation contractors are experts in hydraulics, proper sprinkler system layout, plant water requirements and soil types. Their skills will help ensure a water-efficient system and years of trouble-free operation.

Here is a list of what to look for in a irrigation contractor:

  • Does the contractor have a valid license and/or certifications

  • Does the contractor have proof of liability insurance?

  • Does the contractor have a list of references you can contact?

  • Does the contractor inspect your site or just give you a quote?

  • Does the contractor provide quality parts?

  • Will your contractor install a backflow preventer according to  local codes?

  • Will the contractor obtain all permits required by your municipality?

  • Will the contractor commit to timely completion of your project?

What types of irrigation systems are available?

  • Spray and Rotor Systems:  Traditional irrigation system using spray heads that "pop-up" when the irrigation line is pressurized and sprays an even patterned rotation of dispersed water droplets.  Sprinkler systems are around 75-85% efficient depending on how much distance must be covered.  This is the preferred method of irrigation for large areas, particularly lawns and large open spaces.

  • Drip Irrigation Systems:  The most efficient method of irrigating. Drip systems typically maintain a 90% or higher efficiency rating. What that means is much less wasted water! Drip irrigation has other benefits which make it useful almost anywhere. It is easy to install, easy to design, can be relatively inexpensive, and can reduce disease problems associated with high levels of moisture on some plants. Drip irrigation is the preferred method for landscape planting beds.

Not all irrigation systems are created equally.  There are a lot of corners that can be cut to reduce the price and increase profits.  We have repaired numerous shortcut systems over the years and understand that you deserve better!  We hope our site is informative and convinces you to hire a reputable company.  For a hassle-free appointment, please call or fill out the information on our Contact Us page.
